Green team

"Hi my names Sean and today I will be presenting the green team" Today we sat in the ilminster hall they greeted us with a story, of how nanny koura saved us from the aliens.

Long ago when nanny koura was at the party a queen 3 aliens and there servant robot appeared with a loud BANG! As they proceeded to dump all there rubbish in the skate bowl. Then they decided to get rid of the 1 month old robot, after they left 4 kids arrived. They wanted to skate and bike but there was to much rubbish.

The kids came to nanny koura and asked for here help, but first they had to contact the aliens and the robot had to follow orders so he called them. When the aliens arrived they where mad. The nanny koura and the kids said STOP PUTTING YOUR RUBBISH EVERYWHERE! They aliens who thought that nanny koura was there long lost queen, so they obeyed her. Then the kids thought they didn't have to help but they did and they helped clean up everything.

This play was really good, and left me wanting more. They did an amazing job.

Speeches

This weeks focus has been on speeches, I wrote mine about saving and the benefits of it. I'm nervous to say my speech, have you ever said or wrote a speech?
I think its that there'll be lots of people watching and listening (you guys)! Maybe if I liked my speech I wouldn't be as nervous. Do you LIKE your speech? If I could write a speech about anything I LIKE it, I'd want to write about a three day weekend. Imagine it, 4 days of school and 3 days off it would be dreamy, having 3 sleep overs in a row.

Big long muddy walk

Our class wanted to walk to the end of our Awa (Hamanatua) on the walk to the farm we noticed that there where many different streams and rivers that lead to the same way as our Awa. First we had to jump a little river to get to the first hill then we made our way through bogs and mud to the first stop. Then we had brain break.

Then we ventured through more mud and paddocks to get to the second break lunch. We had a look and found the end a huge wetland which technically went further but we called it a day. We saw so many tributaries which are mini streams that feed into our river. We made our way back to school I was relieved it was finished.

Jean Batten

On Tuesday the 21st, MLH dedicated a day to famous solo flyer Jean Batten. Our teacher brought us into our school hall, at first glance everybody got super happy and excited not knowing how challenged we would be. The first task was like a treasure hunt and there were clues, Our group had an easy one for the start. We had to find each blue letter from a text that ended up spelling where is the fire alarm. We looked up and saw two envelopes sitting next to the fire alarm, we opened them and we and to join with Betsy's group. We had to use code words like for C was charlie and I was India which are places too. So we read each other the codes and found the places on the map. We brought our answer to Koka Ngaire she gave us our next task.

We had to use Morse code, Koka Ngaire gave us the code and we put it into a sentence. The sentence read leaves England, we brought it up to Koka Ngaire. Then we had to figure out the numbers this one is hard to explain but ill try. There was some numbers this is the correct on, 402 some are correct but one is in the wrong. The answer was 4:20 she left England at 4:20. Next we got let out morning tea.

Cross Country

On Wednesday, we walked to the cross country track. I was nervous, stretching before the race made me feel better. "On your marks, get set, GO!" Off I went running my hardest, coming round the first corner. Then, Jogging the uphill and sprinting the down. I had a good method going, until then came 'the dip' this is what slowed me down, that down, then up, was horrible. I sprinted all the way till my first lap was done.

At this point, I kept going and made my way to the finish. I was totally exhausted but proud. "Yes!" I said, as I gulped my water like a thirsty camel, after a 100 day trek across the Saharah desert. The rain was now spitting and it was starting to get cold. LUckily, it was time to head back to school. As I had brain break, I felt very happy finding out I came 10th.

Cross country training

Panting, gasping for breath, my legs were on fire, a waterfall of sweat dripping down my face. "Me haere, me haere!" I said to myself, I pushed through the exhaustion with my first lap done. I ran down the ditch falling over half through the steep part recovering only just. The air felt heavy, almost like a truck was on my back.

I got around Koka Pip, she said "keep running", it was intense, I couldn't hear anything else except my own thoughts. Coming around Koka Rozie for the second time "home stretch" she said. I zoomed down the ditch, not falling this time.

I was coming through the bollards, I shot off like a racecar "YES! YES!YES!" I'm finally done. I fell to the ground, it felt like I had jumped in a volcano, getting harder and harder to breath. A wave of relief rolled over me I layed and waited for everyone else to finish.

WE LOST

We lost our rugby game because it was a grading game which means if had won we would have to face way harder teams.  But now we get to face teams at our level, and the score 55-60 so only by 1 point. Get ready for next game where facing Makaraka I think.

I think we did really well though, we blowed over had some good tackles and even got some points so I'm stoked with it and I'm sure the rest of the team is.

Rugby!!

Tomorrow is our first rugby game Wainui wasters Vs Saint marys.  Today we had rugby training we had a special coach come in to teach how to win the ruk.  A ruk is when someone gets tackled goes down and 5-7 people run in and push the opision off the ball.  This where I come in I run up behind rip the ball the pass it to the wingers.  But my mum forget to remind me to get my rugby stuff so I played in my shoes.  Our game is at our school which means its called a home game so we each have to bring a plate of food.

Our group found a little styrofoam bear he was so cute.

We found a sick river wave then we finger surfed it with some drift wood then we got told off because Raphi kept going in the water. We walked back on the road and found tons more stuff like gloves, plastic bags and even found five pie bags. Back at school the other kids where planting beetroot, celery and peas.

THE GAME!

Our inqury focus this year is about korora/little blue penguins. Our teacher found a game for us to play we have to go through what the little blue penguins do just to get to the beach. Here is the instructions to the game if you want to play.

There is a chalk grid of as many squres as you want 1 person is the comander he/her draws threats in some squres. The threats can be oil leaks, stoats, cats and dogs and many more. Then 1 or more people play as the penguins the have to go through the threats the comander puts down. If a penguin/he or her playing, steps on a threat they are out. Thats how you play if you have any questions tell me thim in the comment section bellow.

Little Blue Penguins

On Wednesday we went to deliver some surveys to people in Douglas and Moana RD. The survey was asking people if the have ever seen little blue penguins. There were 3 groups Koka Ngaires, Koka Rozies and Steffans. Steffan's and Koka Rozie's groups went down Douglas and my group/Koka Ngaire's group went down Moana.

We started with two surveys, I did the first two houses. Then went to the back, since there were around 15 people in our group I had to wait until our group did a full circle and came back to me. I did another two, then we finshed and walked back to school.

I wonder how many people have seen Little Blue Penguins?

Skake and Run!

A huge wave rolled into Tokomaru Bay as all the people fled into the hills because there was a tsunami warning. Friday night we had a monster earthquake. It shook the ground and all the houses too.

This earthquake came all the way from Te Araroa yet it reached people in Napier. This earthqauke shook the whole North Island. It was 7.2 magnatude and the real big one that destroyed the whole of Christruch was 7.4, so we where really close.

This was a pretty cool but scary moment for me and my family to exsprience this earthquake. It just goes to show the this stuff can't always be predicted and they do what ever they want. These things are very deadly and are nothing to joke about. Who knows, with in 5 seconds your whole house could be gone but in my opinion, these types of disarters are the worst.

I just hope we don't get any other big earthquakes. I think its the South Island's turn for a big one!(jokes)
